As March arrives, the average daytime temperatures increase as do the number of butterflies (up to 5 species) and you are more likely to see Peacock, Brimstone, Small Tortoiseshell and Comma along with Red Admiral on sunny days.

These pioneering individuals seek out any available nectar sources and can often be found feeding on catkins or Dandylion flowers. Its these early butterflies which will mate and produce offspring which will grace our gardens later in the summer months.
