April is the month where up to 17 species of butterfly make an appearance although it maybe several weeks later in the north of England and Scotland before average temperatures are high enough for these species to appear.
Butterflies such as the Orange-tip, Green Hairstreak, Dingy Skipper, Grizzled Skipper and Pearl-bordered Fritillary make a welcome appearance... and the more obvious White butterflies such as the Large (Cabbage) White, Small White and Green-veined White appear... a sign that spring has sprung!!
