Moths... which are sometimes mistaken to be butterflies
It is very important to note that there are many colourful insects seen flying during the day may not be butterflies but day-fying moths which can easily be miss-identified as being Butterflies. Some of the more common day-flying moths are shown below. This web site is not intended to be a guide to moths... however, further information about all of our native moths can be found on the excellent UKMoths web site.
