IMPORTANT NOTE:
For identification of butterflies, please only contact me if you have tried and failed to identify a UK butterfly on this web site.
Most UK butterflies are easy to identify with the most commonly encountered species being illustrated here with rarer species being added all the time.
With only 60 butterflies known to live in or migrate to the UK from Europe, identification should be relatively easy. You should however note that this web site is constantly developing and improving. New information is being added all the time. Errors may occur but every effort is made to ensure the accuracy of the information and photographs provided on this web site.
IT MIGHT BE A MOTH
Please also note that some moths (day-flying moths) can be seen during day-light hours even during the middle of summer, the most common of which are shown here. Alternatively, visit www.ukmoths.co.uk for more information.
If you encounter any errors or emissions on this web site, please do let me know using the contact form below. |
